A part fell off my car. It fell off in traffic. I wasn't able to retrieve it, but I got a good look at it. Sort of concerned about the importance of said part, I stopped by the closest shop, which happened to be S. Denver Auto Service. Here's how it went down: me: "My car is a heap. A part fell off. Can you take a look" them: "Sure! We'll look at it right away." I was expecting a long wait. I was expecting to get some guff about my heap. I was expecting a joke about how I didn't know what fell off, etc. None of that happened. I grabbed a cup of coffee, settled in for what I thought would be an hour or two, and 30 minutes later: them: "Hey, we checked out your car and we think it was just a retaining ring for the exhaust manifold heat shield" me: "OK great - how much do I owe you?" them: "No charge." me: "Seriously? I gotta pay you guys something..." them: "No. Just tell your friends about us." me: ".... (dumbstruck)" Suffice to say, I'm a big fan of this shop now. Some other notes: - Very clean (always a great sign) - Very professional - Very friendly - The shop looks dealership quality I think this is one of those great little shops that everyone loves. While I don't think they work for free every time, they seem to be very trustworthy. I'll definitely be going back.
